Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez recently shared details about his bond with Argentina teammate Lionel Messi in an interview on the Italian TV show “Che Tempo Che Fa.”
Martinez, a crucial player for Inter this season and Argentina’s quest for another consecutive Copa America title, praised Messi for his unmatched fighting spirit during training sessions, referring to him as a “competitive animal.”
“I consider Messi not only as a teammate but also as a friend,” Martinez expressed. “He is a player who has left his mark in football history. It’s like he is playing a different sport in our training sessions. The way he performs things I have never witnessed before. He is driven by competition and never wants to come out on the losing end.”
Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martinez will be teaming up for Argentina’s Copa America opener against Canada on June 21st.
Meanwhile, Martinez has been in excellent form for Inter Milan this season. Leading the team in goals with 23, he helped secure a Serie A title victory for the “Nerazzurri” after their recent derby win against AC Milan. Martinez will be back in action this Friday (May 10th) as Inter Milan faces off against Frosinone in a Serie A showdown.
