Dua Lipa is currently dealing with her third lawsuit related to her popular song Levitating. Musician Bosko Kante has filed a copyright claim in Los Angeles, alleging that the singer and Warner Music Group utilized his talk box recording unlawfully in remixes of the hit single. Levitating is the most popular track on Dua Lipa’s 2020 album Future Nostalgia. The lawsuit seeks millions of dollars in damages.
Hooray! From Barbie to Kylie, the disco beat is spreading like wildfire.
According to reports, a lawsuit has been filed by Kante against the creators of a song for alleged copyright infringement on several remixes. The case is based on a verbal agreement between Kante and the creators, which stated that his talk box recording could only be used in the original recording but not in future remixes. Kante is seeking more than $20 million in damages.
The lawsuit alleges that all three remixes used a larger portion of Kante’s work than was used in the original version without seeking his authorization or permission. Kante’s lawyers have claimed that they had attempted to resolve the matter out of court but were unsuccessful due to the defendants’ unwillingness to cooperate or accept responsibility.
As of now, representatives for the popular British-Albanian singer have not issued any comments regarding the suit.
